FRS COPS AND ROBBERS May 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joel Colman, W5OPR I split a bunk into two groups (usually around 5 kids each, depending on the size). One group are the criminals, and they take an FRS radio with them on channel 1. The other group are the cops (FRS radio on channel 2). Each group has a counselor with them. The object of the game is for the cops to catch the criminals (obviously) - but this is how it works. The criminals first hide somewhere in camp. At headquarters is one child who plays the dispatcher. I, play an informant, who talks to the dispatcher and the criminals. When the criminals have found their hiding place, they notify me. I report to the dispatcher, who then tells the cops to go search for the criminals. Now, when the cops search a new area in camp, they report their location to the dispatcher, who than reports their location to me. I call to the criminals and tell them where the cops are, then they tell me if the cops are HOT OR COLD - then the reverse communication happens, where the dispatcher tells the cops if they are hot or cold. Basically, this is hide and go seek, using radio's. The kids have a blast, and this works with all different age's. The kids learn how to talk on the radio (just teaching them to press PTT and wait a second and then talk takes some time). This is an easy fun program, and requires only four FRS radio's. 73, Joel Colman W5OPR
